Welcome to the Herd!

The Indiana Chapter (a quick recap!)

POV: it's 2023 and we traded the mountains of Utah for the rolling hills of Indiana so Josh could pursue his Master’s in Opera at Indiana University. We made the cross-country trek with our "Hooker Habitat" packed into a 7-horse trailer—complete with four horses and our Australian Shepherd-Rottweiler, Coda.

During our time as the "Hooker Homestead," we really had the opportunity to level up our self-sufficiency. On our little three-acre slice of heaven, we mastered the art of collecting fresh eggs, milking goats, and raising our own delicious pork (though not as delicious as when they're milk-fed). It was a season of growth, music, and farm life that shaped who we are today!

Back to Our Roots (and the Barn!)

We’ve officially made our way back to Utah, and life is as full as ever. We’ve come full circle and are currently back, all cozy on my parents' property. We are so grateful they’ve embraced the chaos of the "Hooker Herd" taking over their space, once again!

The Business of Being Self-Sufficient

This passion for farm-to-table goods didn't stay in Indiana—it grew! We are in full-blown Hooker Herd mode now, creating luxurious goat milk soaps and bath products alongside science-backed facial serums that McKenna custom formulates with her love of skin science.

Our goat operation has grown to four queens—Red, Myrtle, Juniper, and Sasha—and Hazel is really the ultimate milking queen! She's tried showing William, but I think he prefers to hold the title of ultimate grain boy and step in any mud and water his bare feet can find. Aaand, while a few extra chicken eggs might get cracked on the way to the house some days, we’re making the best memories along the way.

With two milk cows on the farm now, our kitchen routine has expanded to batch after batch of creamy Greek yogurt, rich chocolate milk, and the best salted butter you’ve ever tasted (made totally by Josh!). There’s nothing quite like watching our family build this lifestyle together from the ground up, and we're so grateful to share a piece of our farm with you.

Mountains and Melodies

While Josh is exploring new professional avenues, his voice (that "cinnamon butter" we love) remains the soundtrack to our lives. When we aren’t milking or making serums and bath bombs, you can find us on horses, taking advantage of the stunning Utah mountains right in our backyard.

We’re still the same Hookers—just with a few more animals, a lot more soap, and a continued devotion to God and self-sufficient living. Welcome to the next chapter of the Hooker Herd!
