Welcome to the Herd!

The Indiana Chapter (a quick recap!)

POV: it's 2023 and we traded the mountains of Utah for the rolling hills of Indiana so Josh could pursue his Master’s in Opera at Indiana University. We made the cross-country trek with our "Hooker Habitat" packed into a 7-horse trailer—complete with four horses and our Australian Shepherd-Rottweiler, Coda.

During our time as the "Hooker Homestead," we really had the opportunity to level up our self-sufficiency. On our little three-acre slice of heaven, we mastered the art of collecting fresh eggs, milking goats, and raising our own pork (pigs are fun heehee). It was a season of growth, music, and farm life that shaped who we are today!

Back to Our Roots (and the Barn!)

We’ve officially made our way back to Utah, and life is as full as ever. We’ve come full circle and are currently back living in a trailer, all cozy inside my parents' barn. We are so grateful they’ve embraced the chaos of the "Hooker Herd" taking over their space, once again!

The Business of Being Self-Sufficient

This passion for farm-to-table goods didn't stay in Indiana—it grew! We’ve expanded our goat herd and even launched a family business making the most luxurious goat milk bath and skin care products. Hazel is the little milking queen and has taken over milking duties, with William always nearby to make sure the cows are still saying "Mooo!". Honestly, there’s nothing quite like seeing our kids learn the value of hard work firsthand.

We’ve even added a milk cow to the mix, so our trailer kitchen is now full of fresh cream, homemade cheese, and all the dairy dreams (and chaos) you can imagine.

Mountains and Melodies

While Josh is exploring new professional avenues, his voice (that "cinnamon butter" we love) remains the soundtrack to our lives. When we aren’t milking or making soap and bath bombs, you can find us on horses, taking advantage of the stunning Utah mountains right in our backyard.

We’re still the same Hookers—just with a few more animals, a lot more soap, and a continued devotion to God and self-sufficient living. Welcome to the next chapter of the Hooker Herd!
